Performances, performances and more performances November 07

November got off to a busy start with Trix Circus students preparing for a number of performances.
This first performance was on Wednesday the 14th of November at the World Diabetes Day Dinner which was held at the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane. And without much of a break inbetween the next performance will be at the Ballina Rivafest on Sunday the 18th of November. Trix will be erecting their own aerial rig and will have performances at 2.30 and 4.30. The Ballina Rivafest is at Fawcett Park in Ballina.
As December starts, so do more performances. Trix Circus have been invited to perform at The Gold Coast Media and Corporate Club Luncheon to be held at the Sofitel Hotel in Broadbeach.
The Community Classes will have a chance to show-off their skills as 'Trix goes to the movies' on Saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th of December at 7pm both nights. The students have been working hard to theme their acts to different movie sondtracks - with music from James Bond, Cabaret, Inspector Gadget and Moulin Rouge to name a few.
The Southport State High School students will also be performing during December on the 11th and 12th of September during school hours, with show times to be confirmed.

October 07

The community classes are busily preparing for the their end of year show which will be held on the 8 & 9 December at Southport State High School. Most of the acts for this show have been finalised, although a program is yet to be set.

One of our swinging trapeze students has just returned from performing at the Perth Royal Show in Western Australia and will be entertaining audiences at Lennon Brothers Circus during November, here, in the Brisbane area.

Its also the time of year at the moment when various circuses are finalising their program's for the 2008 season. Two of Trix Circus' flying trapeze students are joining the Flying Bullfighters at Cirque d'Hiver Bouglione in Paris France for the 2008 season and another two of Trix Circus' students are going to join Webers Circus in Australia to perform swinging trapeze, cloudswing and duo trapeze.

And as always Rodleigh has been kept busy with coaching, rigging work and making equipment.

End of Term 3 and Uplifted

September has been pretty busy for everyone at Trix Circus. At the beginning of September Trix Circus operated flying trapeze workshops and daily performances at the Gold Coast Show.
Then we performed uplifted at the Gold Coast Arts Centre. A big thank you at all the cast, crew and support persons who all did a fantastic job. We have recieved some very good feedback from members of the audiences and members of the arts community alike. Hopefully we will be able to put on another performance of this magnitude in the near future.
As the end of term 3 rapidly approaches the Wednesday community classes (from 4pm - 6pm) will be take a short break until school starts again. The Saturday community classes (from 1pm - 3pm) will still run as usual.
We are starting to prepare for the end of year shows, so all the community class students should start to think about what acts might be ready to perform at the end of next term.
Rodleigh will be away, doing some rigging work, in Singapore from the 1 - 5 Oct. So most of the private lessons will be cancelled for those few days. Preferences for private lessons for term 4 should be submitted to Rodleigh as soon as possible, so that the arrangements can be made for next term.

End of Term 2 and uplifted

Its been a busy couple of months at Trix Circus. Rodleigh has been busy with plenty of rigging jobs and all of the private lessons he teaches. In his 'spare time' he managed two trips to Kuala Lumpur and one to Singapore for rigging.

Trix Circus students have been involved in a number of shows including the Southport State High students presenting a show for students at Biggera Waters High School. More recently students performed at Salt Village in Kingscliff and at Burtons Circus during the school holidays.

Its shaping up to be pretty busy for the next few months aswell. Trix students are performing 4 shows at the Gold Coast Arts centre on the 13th and 14th of September. The name of the show has changed from Element 5 to Uplifted. The cast has been chosen and rehearsals are in full swing. The show promises to be a contempory production with a dynamic mix of circus, theatre, dance and song.

Uplifted will be performed at the Gold Coast Arts Centre on the 13th and 14th of September at 1pm and 7.30pm on each day. Tickets are $15 for children and $25 for adults, bookings can be made at the arts Centre on (07) 5588 4000

Jan 07 - Element 5 Show and Auditions

Trix Circus has recieved funding to produce a show at the Gold Coast Arts Centre in April. The Show will not only be circus based but have a strong theatre element.
On Saturday 3 February we will be holding auditions for the Element 5 show. Many of the acts have already been chosen but we are hoping to find some hidden talents which may be used in our show. So if you can sing, dance, act, play a musical instrument or have a flair for public speaking please let us know.
The auditions will be held at Southport during the normal circus class time.

Jan 07 - Community Classes

The Community Classes at Southport Stae High School have commenced for the new year.
The classes run on Wednesday afternoon from 3pm to 5pm and Saturday afternoon from 1pm to 3pm.
Please register with Jennie on arrival.

January 2007

Its been a busy start to the year already. Students of the Trix Circus Performing Arts Group performed at the Evandale Parklands on the Gold Coast as part of the Australia Day entertainment. We performed three 1 hour shows over the day. The acts included handbalancing, hula hoops, swinging trapeze, spanish web, swinging lyra, straps, double trapze, cloudswing, contortion and silks. It was a hot day to spend in the sun, but the students performed beautifully.

December 2006

It has been a busy past few months for Trix Circus.
On the 3 December the Trix Kidz performed a 2 hour show 'Carni Vale' in the Brian Streathfield Centre at Southport State High School. There was an afternoon and an evening performance, both of which were received well.
The Trix students at Southport State High School performed 2 end of year shows in early December. The first sghow was attended by 250 invited guests from Musgrave Primary School. The second show was to 50 guests from Southport Primary School, parents, teachers and fellow year 8 and 9 students.
No expense was spared this year on lighting and sound inside the Brian Streathfield Centre to transform the hall into a professional performance space.
Rodleigh has been very busy. Apart from training all the performers and directed and starring in Carni Vale, Rodleigh made an appearance dressed as Santa at Robina Town Centre and has been rigging equipment for performances at Jupiters Casino. Rodleigh recently suspended performers 59 metres in the air for the opening of the Jade building in Surfers Paradise.
Jennie has been busy making costumes for the Carni Vale show, for the opening of the Jade building and for other end of year performances.
Rodleigh and Jennie will be taking a short break over the festive season from the 23 December to the 8 January.
Would you like to book a lesson? Get in quick. Bookings are now open for lessons after the 8 January 2007.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Trix Circus.
